    unable to delete selected files

not come across this before; but i have win2000 and cannot delete a couple of files in this one directory. i have done scandisk/defrag and when i investigate the properties it says another process may be using the files.. i find this hard to believe..

i have tried from command line and within windows.

how can i get rid of them...?

they are either TXT or DOC files, so nothing special.

yep, comes up with sharing violation - file being used elsewhere.

as for safe mode; not done it yet....

Haven't seen you here for a while Mr.M...

Are you sure you have delete rights?
I've also seen file attribs get corrupted. a chkdsk /f fixed it and after a reboot I was able to delete the files.

    UnLocker (Freeware)

Ever had such an annoying message given by Windows?

"Cannot delete Folder:It is being used by another person or program.
Close any programs that might be using the file and try again"

    It has many other flavors:
Cannot delete file: Access is denied
There has been a sharing violation.
The source or destination file may be in use.
The file is in use by another program or user.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.
