    damage laptop video card

    Hi all,

A friend, have a fujitsu-siemens laptop with a dead video card.
He can listen Win XP booting up but can't see nothing on LCD (or even on
    external CRT).
Problem is that he want to send his laptop to repair but want to wipe HD first
(or save all data to an external HD/CD/DVD).
How can he do that without see anything ??

    Thank you in advance

It's fairly easy to remove a hard drive from a laptop..It's usually on the bottom
with a couple of screws, or on the side with a pullout feature..They don't have to have the drive to fix the video..he can just keep it with him

The VC might not be faulty depending on what his bios settings were, meaning that if the bios settings were not set to both display modes its possible the LCD unit or other problem.

    Thank you geoscomp.
Yes, we think about that too, but if he remove the HD from laptop he void the waranty.
Is there any other way ? using a network cable to connect and do it remotely ??
