rootkits
as most of you have seen by now symantech aka norton use rootkits on their customer pc,so after sony norton and nero as i found out personaly it seem`s that most software companies do it,and i figure that it is some form of pirating just as bad as what the socalled software pirate do,i quit selling or even installing norton before cause i suspected something like this was going on,maybe us (the tech people) should do something about this like warning the software outfit including microsoft that if they don`t stop doing this me might retaliate in kind,as for myself i will look mthe other way when someone comes in with pirated software,not ready to encourage it but willing to let it go,it make`s me real mad when i see this going on,what`s you peoples feel on this matter?

I think making statements;
Like you will look the other way when pirated software comes in.
Will get you a visit from microsoft. And they wont be there to
give you a gift.
I do not condone the use of rootkits key loggers or any of that other stuff in any way shape or form.
In fact i would like to see stiff penalties for anyone using them.
Personal buisness or commercial.

Do you know the purpose of the "rootkit" in Symantec/Norton? I'll bet not. Study up on the "Norton Protected Recycle Bin". Come back when you are informed and in a mood to discuss rather than rant.
Was it wise? Who can say? It served a purpose, but I personally think they were very smart to re-examine the benefit versus risks and publicly change their tack.
And I HATE HATE HATE Symantec software.
