    some problems

i have cable internet, comcast and they say i should be getting at least 4-5 mb of download speeds but i barely get 400-500kb, i am using a wireless usb adaptor and it is netgear with a netgear 54mbps router.

also, when downloading torrent files it keeps disconnecting my wireless interent, this didn't happen when i had my old d-link router and wireless adaptor, can anyone point out the problem?

sorry if i am very general, i will give more detail if needed, thank you

Hi, try using a physical cable for a bit instead of your wireless to figure if any delay is between you & the router or that coming in

btw torrents don't like going across wireless connections ! (all that 'packet rewrapping' done by various wireless encryption schemes mucks it up) , if you are a regular on that scene consider a way of arranging your downloads to a wired machine, you'll get better download speeds over even a compliant wireless connection .
