Netgear Wireless Question
How can you get a network encryption on a router? There are other people where I live that can get internet from my router and I want to stop that. Anyone here know how to go about putting an incryption on it? Thanks for the help. ~Dennis

In your router setup, you need to set the wep or wpa encryption. What brand of router is this?

Also, once the WEP is setup, and you successfully connect with your encrpted password, then turn off "broadcasting" so people nearby won't see it in their list of wifi networks to connect to.

Its a netgear wgt624, and it has any one of these encryptions... wep (64 or 128 bit) or wpa-psk. How do you know which one to use, and which bit to use. Thanks ~Dennis

Ok I did that, but for some reason now it wont connect, the icon just stays red now. And if I take the encryption off, it goes back to green... Any thoughts? ~Dennis

Download the manual. Here: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgt6...r_id=223210447
Start on chapter3, page 10. wireless settings. Follow the instructions. You have to use the same settings on the wireless computer.
