ordinal 17 mapi32.dll
Went to link. Thanks. But, does it matter that I don't know how to use Outlook and never have used it? Unfortunately renaming files ".old" ".bak" is something I don't know how to do.
Do you think if I simply re-install Office (which contains Outlook) that it might clear up this problem?
thanks

It might fix it, then again it mightn't - the problem you seem to have is an incorrectly registered version of a dynamic linked library (.dll),you have a file version mismatch, now that might be misregistered in a way that re-installing office might fix, but as its also very probably getting used by something else too besides office (else what mis-registered it? -this is a shared file & more than one application uses it).
No need for renaming anything, you want to run 'fixmapi' which is a '.exe' written to fix this up (this is a common error)
From desktop, click start, click run, then type (no quotes) "c:\windows\system32\fixmapi" - not much will happen, but after a reboot, hopefully your issues should go away.
Another way to return the files to their 'should be' condidtion, is to try (again from 'run') "sfc /scannow" (which is a system utility called 'system file checker' (sfc)) which reads all the system files on your computer & checks that they are the installed versions according to a central installer mechanism, if it finds errors it may ask for the winows cd, or other installed program disks, with which to replace any errant versions..
