What Ho Soyo?
I heard that Soyo was bought up by ECS. Is this true? I have been running a Soyo Dragon KT880 without any problems for some time. I was considering going with a Soyo board for the AMD 64 procs. I have no love for ECS, and wonder if Soyo will go the way of PC Chips and others (ie garbage). Perhaps it's time to go back to MSI or Asus.

Intel Mod
It seems that Elite Group (of which ECS is part) made an investment in Soyo when they needed large capital in 2004 that gave Elite Group majority holding. ECS denied they were responsible for any "takeover". The buy-in was attributed to the chinese "Lung Teng" company, producer of connectors and heat dissipation modules.
ECS however has been manufacturing for several motherboard producers for sometime, one I think being Soyo, also Shuttle, Jetway, PCChips and Abit. Not to mention Apple - Asus expanded their manufacturing capacity by buying the ECS facility that produced notebooks for Apple...
So you never quite know who owns who, or what factory a product came out of!

Soyo
Thanks for the info. I'll probably spend some time at Tweek Town and others before I invest in a new board.
