Now if i switch to the 60gig hard drive with XP on it as well every thing is ok
Are you saying you have a 300 gb drive with windows xp and a 60 gb drive also with windows xp?

yes thats right 300 gig is the master and the 60gig is the slave when i got my 300gig i saved the o/s on the 60gig just in case of a problem like this. like i sad in the bois everything looks good but if i boot to the 300 there are no dvd drive but in D.M. the two dvd roms are there and the drivers are there but its telling me there are no devices. Tried to discunect and recunect them but same thing code 42 I beleave (The drivers are installed but no device found) yet on the 60 gig there is no problem.now just to lit you know iv been working fine and dandy since xmass 2005 nothing has change looked in my computer on Feb. 12/06 and it was gone working off the 60gig right now ready to try a windows repair did it one for some one but there were more problems after the repair. pls help thanks

I'd say your on the right track! If your drives appear ok in the bios, but not in windows My Computer, but ok in DeviceManager, if I read your problem right, then I'd say the problem is with the windows instalation.

thanks your right it was a combo of a bad instal and bad ram timming lol thanks
