Can I get some sympathy here? I have been a state employee for 26 years and have dealt with similar adminitrators more than I want to remember. It is fools like that, who give Oklahoma its hick reputation.

I noticed you can no longer click on his name to send him an email...

Just goes to show you that just because you have a whole slew of degrees and 22 years "in the business" doesn't mean you have any idea of what you're doing. He's probably a decent city manager, but he obviously knows nothing about websites.

the best thing about it is how out of his way the guy from CentOS went to try and save this dude from embarassing himself.

22 years - and still pig ignorant. Wonder what happens if the car runs out of gas or perhaps the streetlights go out... does he get the FBI on the case because someone has stole his gas or the lamp blew?

I was wondering if this guy knows -ANY- computer person of any kind because seriously, anyone thats been around for ...2 days has seen the standard apache "you've set it up" webpage and likewise for IIS.

Large concern - people are using things they do not understand, at all, and are afraid to ask for help/explination because they don't want to "look stupid" so they result in a "blow up the world" syndrome. I'm sorry, if I'm asked to use something I don't understand, I'm going to ask (or look it up) until I do or at least have a base to get by. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean a deep understand just a general "this is how it works". Take cars for instance. Would I expect anyone to know how to blueprint and engine from ...say a 9.2 CR to 10.0 CR and increase the displacement by boring the block .02" and increasing the stroke to 6.474"? no. But I would expect someone to think "gee, that sound isn't something I've heard before, maybe I should ask someone if thats a problem". Same goes for anything that could fail : light switch, phone, coffee maker, aircraft, laws, etc. These things can save you MASSIVE amounts of pain, suffering, ID theft, money, and public humiliation.

sorry, I've just delt with some fun ones today.. (yes, already ...its friday at least)
