Exporting from Access to Excel

Access & Excel 2k.

When exporting from an Access (2k format) db to Excel; when you save the file it automatically uses Excel 5.0/95 instead of 2k format.

I've set Excel to automatically use 2k format in the options.

Any ideas or is this a "feature" of Office?

When exporting from Access 2K to an Excel file, the dropdown list lets me select the format of Excel I want to use. Are you expoting an Access object, like a table, or the results of a query, or report? Are you doing this with custom code, a macro, or using the toolbar options? Are you using Runtime Access, or the full blown version from Office Professional?

Yes it does for me too; however it defaults to 95 format initially.

This happens when i am exporting a table, no custom code. The Excel file which is created is in 95 format; so you have to save as then choose the correct format.

Full version of Access 2k from O2k Pro.

When exporting from Access 2K, I use the Export selection from the File option on the toolbar, or by right clicking the table and selecting Export. This defaults to the Access formats (mdb, mde, etc.) but gives me a lot of options, including any of the ODBC datasources I have installed, like the SQL database. Perhaps you still have an old Office 95 installation lurking on your machine? For a while I was running Access 97 and 2K on the same box and ran into similar problems until I could remove the 97 stuff altogether.
