[RESOLVED] Attachments
Not the obvious problem - the relevant boxes have been unchecked.
When any attachment in OE (on XP Home) is clicked, nothing at all happens, no message, nothing. If you try to save, a message about low disk space pops up. Ive tried everything I can think of, including checking quota management. Theres 200Gb free. Ive tried disabling a/v and firewall. If I forward the message to another PC, the attachment works fine.
A/v scan (NOD with all options checked) is clear, spyware checks (Defender, Ewido, Spybot and Spyware Doctor) found just cookies. Any ideas?

Have you tried performing a re-installation of IE/OE?

What size are the dbx files? I've seen problems before with large file size.
Otherwise you could try a compact; might fix any errors in the dbx.

I havent tried reinst yet, but thats next.
As for the .dbx files, they are no larger than expected. I have seen excessive dbx file sizes, or excessive amounts of dbx folders cause problems, but thats not the case here. Its moving to Thunderbird once fixed!

If you're moving it to Thunderbird when not try an export or import straight away rather than trying to fix the OE problem?

That never happens to me; much.
Although I do like to know exactly why something isn't working I don't always have the time when the client is expecting a miracle so the quick and nasty fix is the easiest way to go.
You can always keep a copy of the OE files on that pc and investigate later at your leisure.

Ive now seen a second machine with this problem. But, it had the additional aspect of dissappearing downloads. I rang the customer with the original problem machine, and although now happy on Thunderbird (installed from my memory stick before you wonder how), he confirmed he couldnt download either, but assumed it was because he didnt know what he was doing!
Anyway. It was Windows Defender. Uninstalled it, reinstalled it again, and all OE attachments opened on both machines, and downloads were OK. So. Problem solved.

Interesting. Not a problem I am likely to come across as the boxes I am testing Defender on aren't running OE so good to know about.
Thanks,
