I'm your age street, but I'm happy to have all the original 32 still. I have lots of excess bone growth around the gumline from too many year os grinding teeth, chewing on subordinates, etc. Whenever I go for a checkup, my dentist waxes far too eloquent about all the slicing, dicing, hammering, and chiseling he'll have to do if I ever need dentures. I know this can't be fun, and you have 32% of my sympathy. ADS_Tech has the other 68% right now.

Id rather have my other nut removed than go through all that at the dentists. I hate dentists. Sadists with obscenely hairy nostrils, the lot of them.
Anyone who can sit through 17 extractions in one sitting deserves a medal. And a straw.
Please reconsider an increase of symathy in street1s favour to at least 47.5% to give him the deserved maximum.

I am sorry to hear that. 17 teeth holy cow. I will never forget one time, I was on vacation with my mom & dad visiting my aunt and uncle. My dad was talking and all of the sudden his dentures fell out. My uncle almost wet his pants. My dad (god rest his soul), with his great sense of humor got his fix-o-dent, fixed his dentures and finished his story. He would always laugh about it. I guess my point is:keep your sense of humor.

Yikes, that sounds rugged...
Thankfully my teeth are holding up reasonably well, but I grew up being used to my parents with dentures.

I hear ya. I'll have a set of fakies when I'm 30ish. Every visit to the dentist up until I was 18 I had at least 5 cavities, and I brushed and flossed every day. The last visit a short time ago showed I needed 7 root canals and more cavities than I can remember. I was told total cost of repair would be over $8000, screw that. I want them removed so I never have to deal with the pain again.

I have a full upper plate, but I didn't have the impressions taken for three weeks after the extractions, assuring a proper fit. I have had them for 25 years, and have never needed an adhesive to keep them in place.

Thank You everyone, for your replies.Only relatives I have with same condition will not wear them.
I am about six weeks out now, and have no problems now.You are correct
about the upper denture. That took me 3 or 4 days.
The lower plate took 5 weeks.
I am 5'9" tall average frame weighed 172lbs then,weigh 172lbs now.
I thought I would at least lose that 10 unwanted pounds.
