    Amd winxp image

I managed to build winxp image using sysprep xp sp2 that runs on almost any chipset combo (sis, via, intel) including SATA drives,But i am having problem running it on AMD proccessors chipsets based systems (Nforce,Via 890).
I managed for it to run on amd sempron 2000 with sis (vga integrated chipset), But usually it does not runs on AMD systems, Just reboot on the initial boot.
I wonder if any of you managed to build an xp image that runs on several amd chipsets ? I don't mind even creating xp64 image, As long as it works on several chipsets......

Frankly i doubt there will ever be an all in one.
Better to make an AMD image and a intel image and use the appropriate one

Do you think AMD image based on x64 made on via 890 chipset will be compatible with nforce chipsets ? Or i'll need to start buying all these different chipset based motherboards..... ?

    Hmmmm

    Thanks for the RIS link.
I donno what will serve me better....Building server 2003 system for RIS, Or AMD x64 image....
Do you think that AMD x64 image can be made using several motherboards with different chipsets ? I'm afraid that the HAL between different AMD motherboard will be problematic.
Does anyone managed to build x64 (Or even XP32) that works on all AMD platform including NVIDIA ?
    Thank you

    Shalom,
I am always into sysprep images (using ghost or trueimage) - I amdoing the images on a DVD-R media - and always putt the Windows Install files on that media (including also, AV installation, Firewall, and allsorts of handy stuff) - this way I have a better sollution when installing a new machine.

from time to time I make new image to better reflect the updates (once every 3 monthes or so).

    Hi Gab :O)

Well.....I had some problems in the past that trueimage told me that the image was currupted when i burned it on a new DVD media, so i try to use the drive to store the image.
I even once wanted to burn the image on multiple dvd by dividing it to 2 cd set, and trueimage didn't want to restore the image because not all media was present at the given time he checks the image.......

Why do you need to burn it on two DVD's (9.4GB??? of an Image file) - My Biggest workstation Image till now is 2.5GB (WinXPSP2 with latest updates, office2003 with all goodies, 7z, acrobat pro, AV, Irfan, Winamp, Firefox/Opera)
I can't Imagine a reason for a workstation Image that is higher than 3GB (I usually clean temps, page files and Hiberfil.sys , System restore - this stuff can easily get 4GB - And I don't see any reason why to put it on an IMAGE).

    Cheers,
    Gabriel

My INTEL was around 1.4gb, And i wanted to burn it on 2 CD's (Not DVD's), because some of the computer i deal with does not have a DVD/DVD-R drive.....
Anyway - a quick tip - i disable the swap file before i make the image (Windows creates it when you run windows first anyway), and that save a few hundreds of megas in the image size :O)
Haven't you had a problem with so called "Currupted" Images from time to time, Even that the image was fine, i just copied it to another folder and read it from there ?

When Usin Acronis I get "corrupted" from time to time - but it tells me it when creating the image - so it is not a big problem. I still prefer Acronis on Ghost. It works faster and have far better compression Ratio.

    From my "vast experience"
You would be surprised with what you can live...

Its always a best practice to do verify on any form of backup (Yes I know Image is not exactly a backup more DRP or deployment plan).

I downloaded Nforce chipsets sata drivers and i wonder if i can install them (Right click their inf files and choose install) and integrate them into my image, Or i must have the physical presence of the chipset for it to be present in my image.
