    Self Administration Website

    Hi All

I've recently been asked to design a website for a friend but he wants to update it himself - text and pictures - without having to muck about with html or dreamweaver or frontpage. I've read about self administration websites where users can log in and do the necessary but I've no idea how to set one up for him. He also wants a members area where his clients can log in and view the progress of their application. Can anyone help with this please. I have a basic understanding of website design etc having done a few in the past, but nothing like this.

    Many thanks.

Most host packages include a control panel with step by step free site designers.

These include php and ftp access with ability to add users and many include a free bulletin board. its a matter of looking around at the various packages offered by web hosts. For free ones there is bravenet and similiar and then theres ones like godaddy, 2globalmart and others.

maybe you should check out a CMS like City Desk . there are free templates available for it (and the Basic Edition of City Desk is free)...pretty easy to use...works like a word processor basically.

    Contribute

If you don't want to build a custom CMS, your client can buy Contribute for $79 from macromedia. I've deployed this solution in tandem with an asp-driven CMS for one large organisation and stand alone for two smaller clients. It's a cinch! They're all happy. It also gives you control to set how much they can edit.
