Win95 SR2 Upgrade CD
To solve a different problem, I went to a show and bought a Windows 95 SR2 upgrade (I thought). Unfortunately, this CD turned out to be only for new installs on new computers. Every time I try to install it, it says I already have an operating system and dies. Is there any way to cheat and force this disk to install over my current Win95 SR1 without reformatting the drive? I tried deleting msdos.sys and io.sys, but that didn't work.

Try installing Windows in another directory (WIN95 by example) Try deleting or renaming Windows directory. If it doesn´t function then you have to format your hdd. Just try.

rename your win.com & win.ini to with .bak extentions.
Win95 SR2 will then install no problems.

Usually works just renaming win.com to win.bak. This way all your current settings are maintained.
