    Unhappy Cold Boot Error

Just today when I first booted up I got this message: " Drive 5 not found: Parallel ATA, PATA-1 ( PRI IDE Slave)" This is my DVD RW drive.

This only happens when I turn the computer off and start it up, not when I do a Restart. The DVD ROM drive works fine but I can't even get the DVD RW tray to open. I checked in Setup when booting [F2] and this drive is turned on.

This happened after I cleaned some viruses. I used 6 different ant-virus programs in Safe Mode. And I fixed 2 entrys in HijackThis(ds3m32.dll, which was a Trogan). I checked again with antivirus and HijackThis and did a full system search and I'm totally clean now.

    Any ideas?
    If I only had a brain !!!

1 - check connections to the RW

2 - uninstall RW drivers if they show then uninstall the RW if it shows and reboot

3 - if 2 not possible, sghut down, disconnect the rw, restart, shut down again, reconnct the rw and boot

    see what happens then

Might also be useful to check your bios settings
