Dialup Passwrd is still not saving.....help

Ok I have checked Winfiles.com Bugs and Fix's and followed every procedure in order to get my dialup networking to save password, still to no avail. I changed my system name to my user name. I reinstalled Dialup Networking. I reinstalled dialup account. I also deleted all *.pwl files and it still does not request me to re-enter my Username and Id. I am open to all suggestions.

if you are running win95, go to the Microsoft site & download the ISDN Accelerator Patch. This has major bug fixes for DUN.

If you are using 98 then install IE5 as this also can fix the prob.

maybe you did this, but sometimes the obvious is helpful.... did you try going to my computer, dial-up networking, click the dial-up you want from there, type in correct login name and password, make sure save password is checked. Dial in from there and connect once so it saves settings, then any shortcut you have on the desktop to it should also be OK. Sometimes people try to change these from a shortcut on the desktop and it doesn't keep, where I have found they stay much better if done from the original dial-up first.
I also remember reading somewhere that someone corrected a problem like that by creating a windows login name and password, and there after it also saved dial-up password under the profile..haven't had opportunity to try it. I've only seen this problem with win95a not 98 so far.

I had this problem too, but what really saved me was a program called Dunce. But what's even better than Dunce is Dunce Gold! It's like 30 bucks maybe, but I found it at a Warez site for free. Don't see it too much, but I have seen it. It's the best DUN managing app around.

Windows DUN will not save your password unless you have Client for Microsoft Networks installed in your network setup.

Not always ture, Client for MS Networks does not always allow your DUN password to save. It should, but I've seen it not give you the option to save when Client for MS is installed. Dunce, i love it...

I did try Client for MS on the recommendation from winfiles.com and it did not work. I tried many combinations and even reinstalled it once. It Did not work, so I went MAD!, formatted and reinstalled. Now the system works beautifully. I backup every day on a seperate hard drive. Sorry, I couldn't take it anymore. Dunce is a great idea, but it just bothers me when its built in and doesnt work right. Also, due to my gaming habit, I try to limit the number of apps I have running in the background. Thanks

    Hi Everyone...

I just thought I would let you all know that I too experienced this problem. The easiest way to fix this:
I removed all dial up networking components.
Shut down the system. Reboot and then reinstall dial up networking through the windows programs add/remove.
Reboot your machine, at the windows logon prompt make sure you choose ok and NOT CANCEL! This works everytime. When doing a fresh windows install all you do is make sure you always choose ok and not cancel and it will save!
