    IE7 as Automatic update

They must be pretty sure of themselves to do this!

I shall be using the tool to block the automatic update of this until I have a chance to test it properly.

I have never allowed automatic updates from MS for all the obvious reasons, as for needing a 'kit' to stop it, just disable the service in services.msc, just means you got to go once a month for any updates you feel needed not much of a task.

I am currently using the Beta 3 of IE7 (using it to post this, in fact). It's an interesting "new" look, but there are some annoying features; these can be changed and disabled, but is it worth the trouble?

Also, the neat option called "Quick tabs" that generates a live thumbnail view on one page of all of the pages open in tabs that makes for switching to the right page a bit easier.

Only downside I can see, so far, is that it doesn't offer Mouse Gestures. At least not for free. Unless that changes, I'm sticking with Firefox.

When the finished version of the new browser becomes available via the automatic update system users will get offered three options either to install, install later or not install at all.
doesn't look like you need to block it..if you say not to install, it won't. I've been using it since the first beta, and I like it.

I can't say that IE 7 is going to convert me from Firefox either, but it gives 6 two upside the head. And I have to admit Firefox is playing catchup in anti-phishing.

My experience has been mixed. On my test machine, IE 7 build one broke the software I use to process credit card transactions online. Rolling back to IE 6 cured that problem, but my GotRadio player wouldn't work even after being removed and reinstalled. ARRRGH! Build 2 fixed both of these issues, and I haven't had any major issues with 3. Still, I'm glad I learned a decade or so ago to never test Beta software (especially Microsoft's) on a primary computer.
