    Invisible files

I have a CDR that a customer claims to have data on. The CD shows as having 689Mb used, but only one folder of 21.3Mb is visible.
Ive tried it in eight PCs here, all XP except one on ME and one on 98. None of them see the files. Of course, ive ticked to view hidden files etc.
The guy says he can view the files on the PC at his local library! but doesnt know what o/s it is. He cant copy the files there either.
    Any ideas??

I think you may be right and they were created on a Mac. What free data recovery software reads CDs though? Ive got GetDataBack and RStudio (licensed versions), but they dont read CDs.

I suspect the guy may put a new session on a multi-session CD, replacing the original TOC with the one for the 21Mb of files added in the second session. Nero or Roxio will show you the session info.

If he wants both lots of files back, copy the visible 21 Mb to hard drive, fire up the burner software, open the earlier session and add the 21Mb of files to that, if there's room, otherwise add something tiny and then burn.

It's a common problem among folks who've not quite got the hang of multi-session stuff.
I think I know just enough to know how much I don't know... I think...
