    lsass.exe System Error

    Hi All

Started up my Presario laptop this morning to this error message:

    lsass.exe - System Error
    Object Name not Found

I cannot get past it - I click OK then it just reboots. Safe mode the same.

I put my XP recovery disk in to get the recovery console, I press 'R' then it asks me which windows I want to log into, I make the choice (there's only C:/windows anyway), put in admin password then it stops at command prmpt. I've no idea what to do next! Does anyone know a fix for this lsass.exe message (it's a small 'L' by the way, not upper case). I don't want ot reformat unless absolute necessary.

    Thanks

Try going to this: http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/download.html. If you can use another PC, burn that image to CD and load it up in your Presario. Load from the CD. I doubt if is your memory that is giving you problems, but run the test just in case - it can't hurt.

Load the OS from the CD and use the anitivirus programs that are included there. It is possible it is a virus. I recently had a similar problem, except it didn't even give me an error message, it just restarted itself just after loading windows.

Well I ended up reformatting the HDD and starting again. I had Sophos AV all up to date and Xp updates also. It needed a clean up anyway!
    Thanks for your help.
