    Port forwarding

    Hi,
Ive got a dlink d604t adsl router, and ive got a home network with dynamic address supported. Im trying to set up port forwarding rules, but i cant have the same rule for multiple addresses. So everytime i log a computer off, the dynamic address changes and ive gotta change the rule. Is there a way to use a range and have one rule for them all, or will i have to set up with static addresses or something. Cheers

    Mick

Look on the section on the router that Says DHCP, there will be reservation or something like that. enter your PC's MAC address and specifty the IP that will be given every time.

    Cheers,

    Hi again,
    I just found this -
    http://support.dlink.com/emulators/di604/h_dhcp.html

This is the Emulaor for your router - as you can C there is a place to enter static Ip.
What I meant that a certain computer in your network will ALWAYS get the same IP from the DHCP on the router.
Later you can set up port forwarding more easily.

    Hope I helped you,
    Gabriel

BTW - this Dlink emulato is pretty nice

Yes - because if the internal IPs are dynamic you will always have to change the forwarding rules. unless you have the option to set forwarding rules by computer name (which I highly doubt)

Ok I look into the Manual in ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Broadband/dslg60...l_07072005.zip
It seems that your router does not support DHCP with static mapping (by Mac address) - See page 41 in the manual (this is very weird - almos all the DHCP's I saw have this option)

So you have to configure your computer manually with an IP - consult page 73 in the manual.

Again this is very weird - it might be that your router will support this after Firmware upgrade - but we are going way far on this.

If you need assistance in configuring IP manually in your network I will be lurking here.

    Cheers,
    Gabriel
