DVD drive prob
Having probs with my DVD player, it shows in BIOS and explorer, but wont read. I think the motor is gone because it doesnt seem to spin up. Is there any progs etc that will confirm this as i aint got another comp to test it in. Ive tried different cables aswell. Cheers

Bare in mind it would only 'spin up' if auro run was active, otherwise it waits for a command from explorer, none of my optical drives spin up because I disable auto run on all, not in itself a sign of a problem.
First I would try the drive on a different controller to the one it's on now and check both power\data cables thoroughly. Even then I would find someone with a PC to try it in before declaring it dead, albeit new optical drives are priced at an all time low just now so I suppose if you had to buy one, there couldn't be a better time.
