Noo Noo mentioned Post Offices, they closed most of our local ones down, so have to drive to one, instead of being able to walk. Most of them have long queues, but I found one in a very quiet grocers, which is usually fairly quick.

Ah but I had a television delivered today and I think the young man would have just left the box with me, but I said, 'how do I know how to set it up and where all the wires go?', so he did set it up for me, I did mention I'd discussed it with the boss. Then he was going to leave the Huge Cardboard Box it came in with me, and I said, 'oh you have loads to throw out at your shop' ... so he took that as well.

Sometimes being pushy works, but certainly not in supermarket queues .. the Coop have those too.

Here in Bullwind, we have a really high percentage of Senior Citizens, and my absolute favorite thing is standing in one of those interminable checkout lines at the grocery and ending up behind an old lady writting a check. You know the drill, they don't even start to write the dang thing untill after everything is rung up and bagged. Then they have to check the date on their checkbook calendar, begin filling in the information... all at the pace of a crippled tortoise. CRAP!

Erm, this pensioner uses the modern Chip and Pin cards, but there are people who will stand chatting in the aisles and you want to dash past with your trolley ... and have to find a way round them. Ah yes, I do that myself too.

    Wink

Well, the 'old people' funded the system that now keeps care of the 'younger people' so they deserve some leaway.

My doctor's nurse doesn't like me a lot - she books me for Wednedays (my doc does hospital rounds 7--9:45) and she knows (has happened 6 times out of 6) that he will be an hour to 90 minutes late.

Now, this is waiting BUT in a waiting room and ALL these people (me included) have SOMETHING wrong with us.

    LOL

Now, that is a LOOOOONG wait.

    True!
I wonder what I do with my time then?
Take out the 8 hours working
Take out the 1 hour travelling
Take out the 1hour meetings, etc.

I got it ... I'm on Dial Up .. that's the worst wait in the world ! Did it really mean it would take 24minutes to upload a 1mb file?

But on Monday week, by the evening, I'll either have 2mb broadband or no connection at all .. we shall see?

Where does the time for fun come in?

I'm 54, I'm an AARP member, and I have no compunctions whatsoever about hammering the inconsiderate louts who waste my time! I don't have that much left to waste!

Interesting report on time usage Mayet, but didn't you forget the 3.5 minutes once a month for sex?

The local Kroger and Walmart has self check out that works quite well. Plus they always have enough registers open. However the local Kmart is a disaster, if you're in a hurry, don't got there.

As for calling places, there is something I hate more than waiting~~if their f'ing customer service cannot speak english properly and/or have a heavy accent then forget it, I don't want anything to do with them. What good are they if I cannot understand a damn word coming out of their mouth?
