Hello I cant get my ftp on my web host to work.I use cpanelx webhost. my ftp server is [email protected]. I enable the ftp account and setup a login and password. I get a error message"Windows can't access folder. Make sure you have typed the file name correctly and that you have access to the folder?"

have you tried to log on to the ip address for your ftp? (usually the same ip as the website you are loading files to, but starts with ftp:// instead of http://) Also, what ftp client are you using? Some of them don't accept the @ but need something else such as an underscore in it's place

Ok it should look like this ftp://joejoe:[email protected]
I substituted joejoe for the login, so use your proper login and password in that format

Some ftp hosts do not allow a browser to interact - you have to use an ftp client. There are few freebies around, and in most of the control panels, there is an online ftp (yes I know it means it's running in a browser, but it is different).
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

BTW, Noo Noo, is this true that the ftp session is less stable when it is running from an internet browser (I mean while uploading large files) then when it is running as client connection with one of the dedicated ftp programs?

If you have a firewall, you need both ports 20 and 21 open for ftp

So the problem is my internet and the ftp is set up now? I have dmz enabled on my router so all ports should be open and firewalls should be disabled. So whats causing the authentication to fail?

The password is wrong. Turn off DMZ unless you want to be a virus distributor! Just open port 21
