BOOT VIRUS
I recently got a boot virus.When in POST i get this msg
"Enter the name of the command interperter;IE C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM"
Bios antivirus informed me of a boot virus.
I ran nortin rescue boot disk.Says theeres no viruses found.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.please email me directly also @

is you rescue disk up to date with virus definitions?

I had this happen not long ago and found that the virus software was missing it. I used another virus program and it picked it up! Also had this happen and the virus scanner didn't get it no matter what I used. I ended up formatting that hard drive and starting from scratch.

Do you have a clean boot disk? If so you can rid a boot virus by using FDISK /MBR. This re-writes the master boot record.
DO NOT DO THIS IF YOUR DRIVE HAS MANY PARTITIONS OR IS USING THIRD-PARTY TRANSLATION SOFTWARE SUCH AS EZ DISK.
