Cool Boston Digital BA735 speakers not working

    Hi,
I have just purchased a Dell Dim. 5150, Xp OS, with Creative's Soundblaster Audigy MD soundcard. I have Boston BA735 digital speakers from my previous system that aren't working with the new Dell. I know when I upgraded to XP on my old system I had the same problem, and had to download a driver, or change a setting on the computer, but since old age has set in I don't remember exactly what I did. I've checked all the sound volume controls and nothing is set to mute. All hardware says its working properly, but still no sound. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

    Welcome to WinDrivers.

Although it's referring to the Live rather than Audigy, the information here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

toward the bottom of the article may resolve the BA735 setup for you.

    Hi,
Thanks for the quick response. I pulled up the links that you referred me too. I will try the suggestions when I get back to my computer tonight, but in the meantime I have one question. There is a sidenote at the bottom of the page from link to article 302710 that states that BA735 speakers must be plugged in during a power-on cycle to function. What exactly does this mean?

I take it to mean that in order to work, the speakers must be connected when the system powers up - if the system is already running and you hook them up the system will not become aware of them, so they then won't work until after a re-boot.

Nothing helped so far. I can get as far as the Play control window from the Volume tab in the Sounds and Audio Devices Screen. However, the advanced tab is grayed out and I can't get any further. Any ideas on how to make the Advanced tab accessable?
    Thanks

I am not familiar with your setup, but I came across Solutions to problems from Boston which seem to cover some of your problem.

Dads5thday, Dell's specs say your machine has an Audigy 2 ZS, but just to be it hasn't been customized, you sould see a total of 7 ports on the rear of the card (counting the firewire port). The port farthest from the firewire port is the SPDIF port, and your speakers should be connected there. Digital output on a 2ZS is always active. Setting the speakers to "Digital Output Only" doesn't enable digital output, it only disables analog output. DVD-Audio is the only exception.
