    i could just use this cd roller or disk internals cd/dvd recovery....these both identify the disk as they have built in udf and iso readers.however these are trials so i would need to pay or obtain a serial but that would be illegal so i wont do that

    hi i have reinstalled windows xp service pack 2 now it can read one of the discs which is good.however it cannot read the disk with the format cdfs ,is there any plugin or addon to read this format

    It should just read it.... will that disk read in another computer? Is that a dvd or a cd? hp pavillion zv5000

    I had a thought and so I wonder have you updated the firmware? There are 3 makes of drives there, make sure you download the right one!!

    it will read on another computer and will read through cd roller on mine.but just not through my computer it recognizes it as a blank disc on my other computer it is fully recognized.i have the oco9 firmware

    oco9 firmware relates to which firmware version for which make of drive on the HP link please?

    non of them ,those firmwares are not for my drive.my drive is a

    HL-DT-ST- DVD-RW GWA-4080N

    as far as i know i have the newest firmware

    apparently there is all sorts of firmware out there for that drive - also HP has a number of zv5000 versions which one is yours?

    mine is just the plain zv5000.....
    i have tried upgrading the firmware and nothing has happened yet....
