And the sideshow marches on... Pompous, egomaniacal revolutionary leaders, sending their wild-eyed fanatics out to kill, maim and destroy (and loot on the side, of course), all in the name of the "cause". Guzman and the rest of the Shining Path leadership need to be eradicated from existence, with as much pain and suffering as they caused to thousands of innocents.
True revolutionaries do not victimize the poor, period. Otherwise, they are no better than whatever tyrant they seek to dethrone, worse. By their deeds, you shall know them.

I remember seeing pro-Guzman graffiti on rocks along Pan-Americana during the 1970s. I didn't know who he was at the time, but I quickly learned that if I wanted to kill all conversation with my Peruvian friends, all I had to do was to ask who or what Guzman was. The question made them nervous and evasive.
I seem to recall reading somewhere that one of the Peruvian Government's most effective actions against Sendero Luminoso was the handing out of pump action 12 gauge shotguns and cartridges loaded with SSG to the matriarchs of households in villages which had been troubled by Guzman's henchmen.

Yeah, you do not mess around with Mama. Just like Native American women, Hispanic women will carve you up in your sleep brother.
