Noo Noo I am using Net Assistant which was installed on my computer through Bell Canada when I installed high speed wireless. You are correct in that it no longer appears on my computer toolbar. I just found it annoying when I got the message and thought this would work. Any idea how to fix it.

Like you all, I needed to find a solution to this problem. Got it sorted now. I will definately be popping back on when I get the time. I'm not great in the computer world and feel I can pick up a lot of stuff from this forum.

You may want to uninstall the net assistant. I did. I find it to be very useless in that it causes many system problems while using the internet. I called bell tech support about my connection because it went down and inquired about this "net assistant software" The tech laughed about the software, nuff said.

Welcome to Windrivers GSX600F, glad you found us useful!
SusieQ, try Joe's solution... if you want to use net assistant, you should inform your isp of the problem and ask them for an updated version of the software.

Dave Hill Welcome to Windrivers.... did you read this post?

I tried the process of using sfc /scannow using my XP Pro SP2 disk, it went through checking all files however upon rebooting, problem remained.
*******
What did work was uninstalling SmartBridge using it's uninstall exe file
I did a search on "smart" found the Smartbridge folder and used the uninstall file found there. rebooted, bingo, no error. can't seem to notice anything not working, guess i didn't really need it to begin with.
After uninstalling SmartBridge, I rebooted three times now without getting any errors...
As far as not finding folder, remember to enable [search hidden folders] and [subfolders] prior to search.
To be able to search hidden folders you need to open my computer, click tools, folder options view and click the radio button - show hidden files. Apply, ok and then search for all files and folders smartbridge

I tried this and the rename didn't take. The system told me the file was in use.

Welcome to Windrivers Lost In Cyber Space
If the file is in use, boot to safe mode and rename it there. To get to safe mode press f8 a few times before the windows screen comes up... or if it's too fast, start, run and type in
msconfig.exe
click ok. On the boot tab, check the safe mode box. Apply and ok and restart. When you want to stop booting to safe mode, uncheck the box in msconfig boot tab.

SBC Self Support Tool
upon searching for our little MotiveSB.exe I found it under the SBC Self Support folder. This file loads every time windows starts but I never have used it(probably crap like: please restart your computer). If you find that you never use the tool and don't care if it is gone anyway, than I recommend you go to Add/Remove Programs and find the SBC Self Support Tool and completely remove it.
Luck,

I removed the motivesb from my start menu and resolved the problem. No more menacing pop-up. I'll give your suggestion a try also.
Thanks

I'm a first time "caller," and who'da thunk that an annoying error message could bring people together from all over the world! I updated to IE 7, googled the error message among other things, read all your posts which were extremely helpful, did what Stuinn suggested--and voila! No more annoying message. How did you know to do that, Stuinn? Anyway, I'm thankful for all of you because now I've found a new resource.
