    Resolved [RESOLVED] adding second CPU to a NT server

    I have a Gatway server with a PIII Xeon 500 and have been tasked to add another. Has anyone ever done this and run into any problems/pitfalls to be aware of? Thanks in advance for you help.

    Get your hands on a copy of the NT resource kit. It comes with a utility called uni to multiprocessor. Sometimes NT doesnt detect the new processor and the HAL doesnt get updated. Also, when you get the 2nd processor going, take a copy of your hal.dll. Sometimes upgrading a service pack nukes the new hal with a uniprocessor one.
