Welcome to Windrivers Danz45
What windows is this?
If XP, right click my computer, select manage, then double click disk management (near the bottom left hand pane). When it loads, describe what you see please.

Are you attempting to upgrade or do a clean install?
(Pleeeease say you want to do a clean install - upgrading from 98 causes sooo many problems)

Well yes i went ahead did the format Re-installed 98se clean..I keep clean installation files on another hard drive ..Then I copy to a formated drive..Only thing I don`t have the xp on that drive yet.. When I tried to copy it ..I was only able to get about 3/4 of the i386 file..Then it froze up again..So yes I have another clean drive as well... I just put this comp together.. so right now im getting the updated dirver files for mother board etc. So please tell me your thought...I appreciate it..thanks Dan

Huh??
You can do a clean install of XP without ever installing 98 from the cd. Boot from the XP cd, follow the setup - XP will ask for your 98 cd as proof - swap out the xp and put the 98 cd in, when it's done it will ask for the xp cd back.
Much easier... unless you want to dual boot 98 and xp?

Hi nonono,
hah funny name by the way..original..okay back to dual boot. is it so i can install a new drive and move my primary(win98se) back. then install xp on the new drive? In other words...the new drive boots up needing a system..set cd to boot and install to c: correct? Xp will then ask if i want to dual boot i am assuming...whats the best method?? thanks. Dan

errr...
To dual boot
Install 98se first on one partition (or physical drive).
Then boot from the XP cd, choose another partition (or physical drive) and install XP
