64 or 32 bit
I am about to upgrade to Vista and wonder if I sould go for 64 bit or 32, what is the difference?

Unless you know that all your devices and software will support 64-bit Windows, stick with 32-bit.
The difference is that the 32-bit version of Windows runs on either 32-bit processors or 64-bit processors, the 64-bit version runs only on 64-bit processors.

Yes search all of your devices and be sure you have the drivers for 64 bit
Modems and cameras and scanners are problematic
Also check that your software will work. Some does not
An example is Norton Antivirus 2005/2006/2007 It wont even install
They do make 64 bit replacements Nod/Avast Symantec AV 10

That might be over simplifying it a little
32 bit has memory limitations in the 3/4 gig
64 bit i think goes to at least 32 gigs or 64
