Ok i've had it: NT profile filelock problems
I have been able to find the source of a profile not correctly loading after the first time log on as that user after reboot.
The file ntuser.dat gets stuck OPEN and does not close unless you attempt to log in 2-3 times or reboot the system. This is with service pack 6.
What the heck? How is it that nobody else has had this problem... actually not true I have been able to track down one other thred relating to this problem but no solution was found.
Anyhow thankfully our site is going to win2000 within a year...
Any ideas?

this is the same problems many people have..
sessions keep alive long after it shuold have died..
now I'm pretty sure there's a registry setting to change the session "keep alive"...
a few work arounds are a release/renew of IP.
net session kill etc...
I know I solved it once - I just can't remeber how..
we had this problem 2-3 years back... damn memory is fried <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">
