USB enclosure problem
I have a USB2.0 enclosure that is housing a BENq dvdr drive
it was working fine when i had it in the system but when i put it in the enclosure it comes up with a "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
Reason I moved it to the enclosure is I just got a new Liteon lightscribe drie
I want to run both drives but one as a portable for my other systems which do not have a dvd drive.
I have put it in all my ports ( nothing changes)
I have used master and cable select settings
Hoping someone has gone through the same situation and has got it fixed
Thanks in advance i await your advice

Welcome to WinDrivers:
It may be as simple as a power available issue. USB ports have very limited power supply capabilities - can you borrow a powered hub or did the enclosure come with a separate power supply?
Also, can you test that on another comp?

The drive (the enclosure) works in all 3 other systems i have and one laptop...
I have a hard drive to spare put it in the enclosure and it works fine
Is there any way the 2 dvd drives conflict with each other

If the DVD in the enclosure works on other systems you have, then a process of elimination may help:
operating systems (XP, 2000, ?) and service packs
USB type (mobo or card) and versions (1.1, 2.0 etc)
Look for what ISN'T the same.

all usb 2.0 motherboard
all windows xp pro sp2 updated to the max
a friend of mine said there might be a reg edit to let the second drive work but i can't get a hold of him to tell me where he found this.
the only difference in systems is this liteon dvdrw drive... it seems the liteon drive doesn't work in the enclosure in my system either but works in all the others

You didn't say what model Benq but this site discusses the same issue for 2 models:
