    Acer crw6206A and windows XP

I have found several places where this cd burner will not work properly with xp. Does anyone know of a place I can go to get an update or help with this matter?

Yes I own one computer with one cd burner which is a Acer ATAPI CRW 6206A.

What I meant to say is that I have found different sites stating that this burner may not be compatable and that I might have to do something with the jumpers, and the only jumpers I know about are the ones we wear and jumper cables. LOL

I was just hopeing that someone here knew of an update a patch or something that might get the cd burner to work.

Anyone know of anything I might try?

Heya - you had a problem with that device back in November and got it 'fixed' using the filter/registry cleanup mentioned by slgrieb and repeated by street1 just below in this thread:

edit: Then in January, you had burning problems (with your cd) that you got fixed with some aspi and Deep Burner/Real Player magic.

Or, is this a NEW problem?

NP - what make and model of comp dos she have?

Does she have XP SP2 installed?

Has she loaded/removed any burning or playing software recently?

Does she have a router (assuming she uses the internet) and use anti-virus software regularly?

What is the specific problem - ie, won't burn, won't play, either, neither ?

    thx

I am not sure if she has the service pack 2 or not and she didn't either and yes she has anti virus. Won't burn although it does play. She is using real player to burn as I am not to familuar with windows media. I will just have to keep digging till I can find something.

    Thanks you

While I cannot aspire to the knowledge level of the Noo Noo, I can tell you that if you don't have any more info than you are presently working with your chances of helping her are in the area of .2%.

Maybe a shop visit would do her computer wonders?

    True dat...

    Does it try to burn?
    Is there an error message?
    What media are you using?
Are the blanks cdr or cdrw?

What type of files are you trying to burn?
Go to www.deepburner.com and get the free version... can you burn a data cd with that?
She can find out if she has sp2 - right click my computer and choose properties... the first thing is a description of the operating system
