Nero causes crash after copy.............
Athlon 64 4200dc, 2.0Gb DDR2, MSI Platinum (latest BIOS), XP Pro, Nero 6.1.1.6.
PC works perfectly for everything except copying CDs. As the PC is finishing a copy, the system shuts off instantly. It then cannot be switched back on until the power has been unplugged and replugged. It will copy DVDs. It will burn data compilations, anything except copy CDs.
We have swapped the memory, cpu and motherboard, but it still does it. Weve uninstalled and reinstalled Nero. Virus scanned (NOD32), spyware scanned etc etc. Help..............

Are you copying cds from another drive to the burner, or are you using the hardrive temp file?

Single DVDRW drive, so temp file. Its an ASUS, but we did swap it out for a Lite On with the same results.

Does it happen with deepburner?
Did you change out the power supply?
Did you change the ide cable?

System has gone back to customer now, but we ghosted the the drive and installed it on an identical PC (ie all new hardware) and it still does it.
It may be an nForce chipset (MSI Platinum board), as changing the BIOS DMA settings has an affect. Have tried latest BIOS and nforce drivers.
I'm going to try Deepburner later today.
I must emphasise that the PC works flawlessly in every other respect.

I am aware of the setting inprevious versions, but cant find it in thsi one.
I have now tried Deepburner. This causes an instant shutdown as soon as copying starts.
The PC still works fine at everything else.

This is a shot in the dark but have you tried scanning for a root kit?
(I wouldn't even know which app to recommend, it's just a thought based on the old stories of Sony including a root kit to stop the burning of copies of their music.)

When it shuts down, does it blue screen? Or is automatic restart ticked? Is there any clues in event manager?
