Scam email
I think I am the victim of a scam but now I am worried. The email in my Hotmail junk box said it was a receipt for a sum I had paid in dollars (but I am in the UK)to eBay which was taken from my Bank Account but I do not have PayPal or eBay Accounts. I checked the return address and it is the same when I click reply so I am further puzzled that someone has been using my name to buy things. There is a link in the email to click if I dispute the payment but I know better than to click this and I have saved the email in one of my folders.
I have been getting a lot of those Nigerian Lottery scams and scams in my Hotmail now outnumber porn and viagra offer emails. It only happens in webmail and I get no scam or spam in my ISP mail.
I am very worried, I know I should know better having done MCP courses but can they get at my Bank Account even if I don't reply because I did make a one off payment to PayPal a few weeks ago on behalf of Library of Life for my late husband's tribute website which I have since abandoned (too painful to keep website for lost loved one). Should I inform my credit card issuer?

I think its nothing more then a phishing scam.
Keep the email but ignore it and check your statement for this particular charge.
My feeling is it wont be there.

Yep, it's just phishing. You can, if you want report the mail to ebay and to paypal. They actually do something about these people when they can track them down, but you don't have to, in all likelihood they already squished this one.

Thanks for the replies. I am keeping an eye on the credit card I used to make a one off payment via PayPal and so far there is nothing.
