We never replace e-machine boards with original types as in our experience they will undoubtedly fail again!!!!! 27 so far this year, 66 during 2006! all Trigem - made Intel boards, various models / sockets / ages, and all with major issues on the power side, mainly switching on and off twice a second after shutdown (until the PSU gives up & dies) or simply locking up and blowing the fuse and / or PSU on shutdown..... Never had any processor, RAM, hard / optical drive issues yet, these always seem to survive OK

In all cases we search out a compatible board - Asrock is our preferred, far more reliable. Most midi ATX boards with the same cpu socket will be compatible, though a repair install will be needed if the chipset is different (which it probably will be). With older e-machines you won't be able to connect up the front audios but the front usb's are always fine. Later models have a standard audio header so no prob.

You should replace the PSU as well as even if it still works it will have been damaged.

No surprise then that we don't recommend e-machines
