Thanks, Cabal.
I applied through their website last Sunday, still haven't heard anything back yet.
I need a job pretty bad. I've been bored as hell with everyone I know gone for the summer, and the one place that I was promised a summer job bailed on me. Plus, this seemed like a great career opportunity, like you mentioned Cabal.

One of the bad things about any contract work is that as a contractor you are often expected to jump through hoops providing references, insurance information (workman's comp, auto insurance, etc.), naming the contracting company as a co-beneficiary on your liability insurance and the like. Next you get to wait. Of course, when you're needed, you must respond immediately.
I may grump, but some of my recent contract work has paid me by direct deposit within 3 to 5 days of completion. As with any other job, you can't just look at the direct compensation; you have to factor in the time you spend trying to get paid and (REALLY big now) policies on travel time.
