Thumbs up HP Pavilion 751n (U Guys Are THA BOMB)

I have been suffering a 2 week nervous break down from
"The DREADED XP SERVIcE PACK 2" Syndrome
After trying to ugrade to SP2 on my OEM registered copy of XP home
It gives me a key error and shuts down
and boots up to an endless loop of hp splash screen
,windows xp home splash screen and then shutdown
out come my recover disks(sent from HP @ my request)
[which by the way were pretty much just coasters now]
To make a long story short after alot of scramblin to get boot disks and
changin out a cdrw dirve to one from my sons puter just rom
I now have a crisp clean new version of XP Pro
but no audio drivers on the disk anywhere
Checked a million different resourses.and stumbled in HERE
Read all the audio and sound card forums
Picked up a few well suggested apps [everest and belarc]
found out the info i needed to make the daunting task
of finding the right drivers much easier
Sooooo i had to register and post this
You guys have possably saved a life

Thanks alot no longer a mad axe

this is the d/load page here ,, http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...&dlc=en&os=228 , seems your sound should have installed automaticly ,,,try doing a search for new hardware ,,

Well according to this site, HP Pavilion PC Model 751n (US/CAN) - Product Specifications http://bizforums.itrc.hp.com/cm/PostAnswer/0,,0xc525eea29889d611abdb0090277a778c,FF.html you have an SIS 650 chipset...

Have you tried obtaining drivers from their site?

http://www.sis.com/support/driver/7012.htm well that link is stuffed , go to ftp://ftp.pcchips.com.tw/sound/cmedia_037b07L.zip it looks like its the old cmedia driver ,,,then do a windows update for latest driver

    edit , try here http://www.ecsusa.com/downloads/dl_a928.html

    good luck

    Accept the agreement (checkbox)
Choose Windows XP in the first box (6th one down)
Choose IGP Graphics drivers from the second box
Choose SIS650 and Sis740 series from the 3rd box
    Click go
On the page that opens select a download location and click download for the first choice. Save it to somewhere you can find again easily like C:\video
and then unzip the files. There should be a setup.exe file - double click to start the installation.
