Microsoft Update
My Microsoft Update isn't working. Its not worked for months now. It detects what I need, downloads then fails to install and doesn't log anything. The last few log entries had error 0x80246002. Something seems to be corrupted to me.

Try the instructions here http://help.maximumasp.com/SmarterTi...?articleid=898
Basically you have to stop the update service. Rename the folder were the updates are downloaded and create a new one. Then restart the service and try Windows update again. I have seen this a few times and this process has always worked for me.

The cryptography service doesn't seem to be running. It isn't listed by the services program in W2000 apparently.
