Post Dialup access to Windows NT 4.0

Does anyone know of an incompatibility issue with a Windows 98 PC dialing into a Windows NT server? The server has SP4 applied, and Windows 95 machines are able to dial in and log on. They also map drives and access data from the server. However, there's one Windows 98 machine that will not connect no matter what I try. It seems to be getting past the password authentication, but then drops the connection saying that it was unable to negotiate a compatible set of protocols. NetBEUI is selected on both the server and the workstation, and the workstation has NetBEUI installed and configured. In the modem log, it is saying that the remote modem (server) is dropping the connection. Also, the server is configured to use Microsoft encryption, and the Windows 98 PC is set to encrypt data and password. The next step would be to try it with any encryption on the server including clear text, but since the machines are 35 miles apart, I'd like to have some concrete ideas before I start driving back and forth again.
Thanks in advance for any ideas. Don't worry about covering the dumb stuff, I could've overlooked anything (-:

    Some Issues:
Is the user granted permission in RAS?
In the properties of Dial-Up Networking, is there a check mark on, Log on to Network?

Have you tried another modem in the 98 machine?

Yes, did that, and I used an external modem that I verified on one of the Windows 95 machines that connects.
In order to make the RAS work for Windows 95 machines, I had to apply SP4. Is there maybe something in SP5 that will fix this? Or do I have to apply some patches in Windows 98?

When they released SP5 there was also 2 other patch files for download.
    rasffixi.exe (69KB)
    winhlp-i.exe (355KB)
I'm not sure if these will apply to SP4, because I only use SP5 now.

    Cool

Thanks, I'll try the RAS and RRAS hot fixes. I'm also going to try any encryption including clear text.

I have experienced similar problems with win'98. It seems there is some undocumented problem with the netbeui dll files. I have talked to some Microsoft contacts and they hinted around that netbeui was not going to be supported any longer, and in fact will be dropped all together in windows 2000. Thier solution was to install tcp/ip, assign ip add.'s to everything and go forom there. My solution was to fdisk an install win'95 and keep nebuei, as the network was only 4 user peer to peer. Network has been running fine ever since.
