    Unable touse Cd rom

    I reinstalled win98se and after this I am unable to use the cd-rom cos A msg is shown:

    Open
    Accessto D: is denied
    Device is not ready

    retry cancel

    What is happening to, is the driver missing and how can i know the status
    of it to be able to use it.

    Welcome to Windrivers mloo55

    click start, run and type in sysedit and click ok
    A window will open with 5 windows inside

    Copy and paste the text in the window titled autoexec.bat and the window titled config.sys please.

    Yes it did, we can rule out one reason for it not working altogether.

    Look in device manager (start, settings, control panel, system). Is the cd rom listed near the top of the list? If so, does it have a ! next to it? If it does, go into the properties of the cdrom and post the make and model of the cd and the error code that is shown.

    Is your computer branded (eg hp, compaq, time, emachine etc)? If so, what make and model is it?

    If not go here and download and install everest it will tell you about your motherboard - post the make and model of the motherboard.
    Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

    I did what you indicated and then i loaded a Cd and it worked normal. Thanks you very much

    err, but I didn't suggest anything, I was looking for more information from you... it appears it just decided to start working for you then!
