Caterpillar (CAT) SIS terminal services support

Working with Caterpillars parts mamgnetm system SIS. Currently were trying to run it from a singe server and have the users terminal into runn the application. (eliminateds disk swapig and servsion issues as it is 5+ DVDs)

It has an option to enable terminal services suport (if you dont the terminal clients cannot connect to the internal database portion). However it is very vauge on how to configure the options to make this work, so any one out htere know?

The applications ODBC was never configured to support TS. trying to run it over TS resulted in ... interesting results when more than one user tryed to use
    the application.

I have since found documententaion from the manufactuere and have hacked hte registry appart enough to make it work. Thanks for your help

    holy thread reserection!!!

read the netsis.doc file on the install cd it will explain how to setup for terminal services. hopefully you have the networkSIS version that has robocopy and all the godies for makeing it work with out the media, if not keep reading.

basicaly what you do is get a program like Virtual CD (if your running it in terminal services mode get the TS version of Virtual CD as it will become important later when the users actualy start to use the system)

use the Virtual CD application to create images on the PC's hard drive and mount them as a drive.

install and configure SIS as described in the NETSIS.doc file, using hte virtual CD drives as the media locations.

set up the virtual cd progy to automaticaly mount the DVD's to the same drive letters.

Its important that you get the TS version of Virtual CD so that the mount points do not get deisconected when a user loges off, as this will unmount it for all users, andthey will have problems getting it back with out reboot or administrative login.
