    Background noise on video capture??

hey guys, good to be back.

I don't know if you remember but I posted a while ago regarding USB/Firewire connections from camcorders. We've got that all sorted now as I have installed the Firewire board into the back of the tower.

Anyway, I have recorded some videos and there is a massive hiss in the background, which comes in waves and is really noticeable in quiet surroundings when I'm not talking. I don't know whether this is the whirring of the video camera getting onto the sound or the tapes I'm using.

I've been told it maybe something to do with tracking, but I'm not sure how to sort that out. The camera is a JVC GR-D250 and is brand new.

    Cheers guys.

    has this to say:

    "Audio (3.0)
Audio on most consumer camcorders is sketchy at best, and the JVC GR-D250 is no exception to this rule. There are two mono speakers placed at the front of the camcorder body, at the bottom. They are, for the most part, out of the way of roaming fingers, but users should take note that the mic will pick up all handling noise, and in most cases will pick up camera recording and function noise"
