How tricky is Microsoft exchange?
I'm looking for a rough estimate of how complex exchange5.5 is to run.
I haven't got a test system to practice on and so I'm limited to book learning.
Any comments?

Basically Exchange on a really simple level is just that, simple. Usually in a small business 50 or so users an Exchange server has only one connector--Internet Mail Service--for SMTP. This is fairly easy to setup and I've seen these servers run fine for quite sometime with the office personnel occassionaly adding users.
Only when you get into large scenarios, example--the US Army, with thousands of Exchange sites, connectors, users, and servers do things get very complicated.
I learned most of Exchange simply by playing around and even breaking things. Go for it and post if you run into something strange.
