Windows Mobile Device Centre error
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that has been happily synching away for the past few months in the Vista WMDC.
Today it just stopped working, with the error message:-
"updatewmc.exe-Bad Image" then "c:\windows\system32\wups.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the prog again etc......."
Does this on any phone ive tried.
Have uninstalled and reinstalled, regsvr associated dlls, but error still appears.
I did connect a CarTrek 200 sat nav yesterday, which I could browse OK in WMDC, and it all seems to have started since then.
Incidentally, dont buy a Cartrek. They are really pants! Cheap, but pants.
If the automobile had followed the same development cycle as the computer, a Rolls-Royce would today cost $100, get a million miles per gallon, and explode once a year, killing everyone inside.

Check your windows updates history - you might have had one install which could also affect things.
Have you tried uninstalling WMDC from add/remove programs?

Yes, I have tried uninstalling WMDC, and I cannot see anything obvious as being the cause from the updates. It all seems to come back to the other device I opened in WMDC, which has now been removed.

How about a restore point from before the device? The only other thing I could find was someone who had a registry key missing but with no real details.
