Not a bad choice for a unique villain, but that I still can't figure out where that guys' other hand was...

Ha pretty funny Guts3d I liked that. I was starting to wonder where you had disappeared to I hadn't seen you post on any threads I've read recently.
I just realized this.... nobody has claimed Vader or any Sith yet! Scary that's usually one of the prime villains to choose from. I wouldn't though only because when you play SWG as long as I have it's cliche to see someone say "I wanna be Darth *insert name*"

Hmmm Darth 3d Dark Lord of the IT, I'd have to be an Imperial LAN Trooper. It'd be great all the computers on the network can be shaped like Imperial Star Destroyers and the server could be a Death Star.
OK geek moment over.

No chance of getting the data back on that drive then...

I remember a while back I came across some laptop hard drives that had glass or glass like platters, I found out when I dropped one and I heard it shatter. I would have thought that surface static electricity would build up on a spinning glass platter and make all kinds of mischief.

Speaking of hard drives and their demise. I am reminded of a youtube video of the ultimate solution to making data non-recoverable off a hard drive. They packed the whole top 5.5" bay with thermite and even designed an electric "kill switch" then set it off. If interested do a search for Thermite Computer. I am at work so I can't readily search a link at the moment. I also found alisting in a 2600 magazine article on how to turn a dead hard drive into a decent mid range speaker by only taking the cover off and using the speaker wires to start the magnetic head. Furthermore before anyone knocks me for reading that publication I suggest if you want to learn how to lock up and defend a computer you should read it occassionally so you know some of the trendy new tricks they are using out there.

Don't sweat it, we all have picked up a copy of 2600 at one time or another, if for nothing alse but curiosity. The Weasel here reads it often, and I'll sometimes leaf through an issue. The thermite idea is intriguing, tho... On base here we smash the drives with a sledge hammer, that pretty much makes them useless.
