Nt Boot
I have WinNT workstation sp6. Sometimes it will boot up just fine other times it will hang after loading half the icons. Then I must reset it. It only does this on a certain user's account, never the admn account. After it hangs if I press ctraltdel and end task on the explorer and then add it as a new task and the system loads. I've reinstall the service pack, reinstalled NT, removed and recreated the profile. I also had this same problem with sp5 before I updated to sp6. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Suggestions?

Does that user have a different login script than everyone else? Could be something in the login script that they don't have permissions for.

Is the profile local or is it roving? If it is roving make sure they have the permisions to get to ther dir. on the server.

Try re-creating the profiles. Some configuration files might be corrupted.

I would kill off the profile and recreate it. NT 4 is known for screwing up profiles. You might try reinstalling the service pack under the user's profile if you don't want to try blowing it away first

Thanks for the help guys. I've recreated the profile for the second time and it looks to be working thus far.
