Right had a look at mesh and I see what you mean.

The mesh tempest quad pro comes with the 24" iiyama screen. One of my customers bought that screen and though it has a gorgeous picture, the damn thing has a problem with vista when run with DVI/HDMI and it has had to be replaced twice now.

So are you looking at the Elite Q5 FX? It seems to be the best compromise for the price. You can always upgrade the video cards later if need be.

It is the Q4 FX Noo cannot afford the Q5 FX. I have upgraded one or two things like video card from 8400GS to 8500GT for £20 more and instead of one big 500GB hard drive two 250GB hard drives for only £15 more which seems sensible, what do you think? I have added another optical drive and a Creative sound card and will not be having the monitor. Here is the configuration

I hope Mesh are better than Evesham, PC PRO and other good tech press seem to rate them them highly. Ha e had a lot of problems with both my Evesham computers and both have needed a tech visit on Warranty.

I see they charge £85 for home set up, am I missing out on a business opportunity as I could easily do that but noit sure if I am good enough to ask people for money. I am bored and depressed and need some cash, dare I and is there the call for this sort of thing? How do I go about it? Have car, can travel to client. Don't forget I am an MCP FAILED

That seems like a sensible solution for the PC given your situation. Yes you should go with the two hard drives... one for backup. The one year onsite warranty free upgrade for you is ideal and with the free dvb tuner you can have a lot of fun with recording freeview programs.

As for doing the setups - you need to be able to lift the pcs and monitors into place, scrabbling around the floor and under desks that haven't seen a hoover in some time. I wouldn't recommend it. I would recommend you look at training "silver surfers".

I did not realise it came with a free TV tuner, great. I thought the PCI card was just something you had to add the tuner to.


I had not thought about lifting stuff and crawling under desks neither of which I can do now and when I have to do it for myself I am in a lot of pain and sometimes cannot get off the floor unless I have something to grab.

Training Silver Surfers is a good idea but I thought that was voluntary work? I need to earn a few bucks and not sure if a teacher who is hard of hearing would achieve much.

no it's not voluntary - they attend courses. You just need to find a company that does the courses and get them to employ you... or start your own one on one training.

Thanks Noo. It would be an advantage being nearly 67 myself because it would give the Silver Surfers confidence that if I can do it so can they.

Just to compare I had a look at the Evesham site and Mesh are much better value. I am still playing around with configurations to try and get the hard drive option I want of one 500GB and one 250GB as backup. I need the bigger drive because I am playing with big graphic and audio files and although I do back up to DVD and another computer I want to keep the stuff handy.

You can stick with the 2x250 and then buy a firewire or usb external drive later.
